The
Welcome to our holiday site!!
Since we have added many new friends to our holiday card list (and some of our “old” friends still ask…), we wanted to give you some history on the whole Santa hats and sunglasses thing.
It started way back in 1991, when Joe moved from Connecticut to San Diego. Back home in Connecticut in December, there can easily be loads of snow on the ground and average temperatures in the 20s or 30s (that’s Fahrenheit!) – much different than the 70 degrees and sunny weather he was experiencing in San Diego. So, he thought he would send his family and friends – who were mostly in New England - some good-natured teasing with a photo card (see the first in the series below). He spent a few more years in Southern California and kept annoying his East coast friends with the same theme. And even after he moved, it kind of stuck……
Lucy officially joined our card in the memorable 2012 edition although she was behind the lens for a good few cards before that! In 2016 and 2020 we were blessed with additions to the family and to our card tradition – thankfully they have all been good sports about taking photos in some strange places for wearing a Santa hat and sunglasses. :)
And to clear up another question, yes, all our pictures are taken on location at whatever time of year we happen to be there. No Photoshop locations, including our wedding day in Sorrento, Italy!
Our travels have moved us to seven different cities in three countries and each year we have kept the tradition of making the theme of our holiday card the most significant experience we had that year. We now send out over three hundred cards to family and friends in dozens of countries – and have always kept the original Santa hat and sunglasses touch. To see the series from the start, scroll all the way down this page and you can click a few ways to enlarge the images. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do making them.
From our family to yours, we wish you a safe and happy holiday and much happiness and prosperity in 2025.
Joe, Lucy, Joseph & Serafina xx
